The Winter Group BBQ this year was held at Banksia Park, as it has been for the past couple of years, to coincide with the orienteering club BBQ. I don’t think many Winter Group members (apart from Sheila) tried the orienteering, although Marianne and Martin took Savoy (the dog) for a walk along the tracks. Mostly we just sat and talked and cooked and ate and drank and did a trivia quiz – very pleasant. It was good to see Judy and Masako and to catch up with their news as we don’t often see them at pub nights.
We missed Neil this year as he had a family gathering to attend. It was interesting to notice the Winter Group vehicles all lined up across the road from our BBQ spot – a perfect line-up of Subarus of varying years and models. Must be catching. We had perfect weather this year – not too hot or too cold and it stayed dry, although a few ominous clouds started to pile up as we were packing up.
Thanks to Loch for collecting the firewood and getting the fire going in the BBQ. If I remember right, those attending were Sheila, Jan, Loch, Masako, Judy (who brought a friend whom we also had the pleasure of meeting last year at the BBQ), Anthea, David, Marianne, Martin and myself. Apologies if I’ve forgotten anyone. Becky |
